Timmins Election 2022

Timmins’ 2022 municipal election is taking place on October 24, 2022. The Clerk's Department is responsible for the coordination and management of the Municipal Elections. In accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, every four years the City Clerk as Returning Officer, conducts elections for the offices of: Mayor, Councillors, and trustees on the following School Boards: English Language Public, French Language Public, English Language Separate, and French Language Separate.

Key Dates

Nomination period begins May 02, 2022

Nomination Day - last day to submit or withdraw a nomination is August 19, 2022 by 2:00 p.m.

Nominations are certified on August 22, 2022 by 4:00 p.m.

Advanced Voting October 11 - October 24, 2022 (conducted through on-line voting)

On-line voting begins October 11, 2022

Voting Day - October 24, 2022

Deadline for candidates to file financial statements is March 31, 2023

Am I Eligible to Vote?

If you meet all of the following conditions, you are eligible to vote in the 2022 municipal election:

You can only vote once in the municipal election. You must vote in the Ward that you are registered in as a voter on Election Day.

This can be done in-person starting September 6, 2022 at the following locations:

Service Timmins, City Hall
220 Algonquin Blvd. E.
Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Timmins Public Library
320 Second Ave., Timmins

You can also contact Service Timmins by phone at 705-264-1331 to ensure you are on the Voter's List and make any corrections.

The City of Timmins will begin sending out all Voter Notification Cards in September 2022. Information will be posted prior to election day for those eligible voters who did not receive a Voter Notification Card.

Deadline for additions, corrections or deletions to the Voter's List is October 23, 2022.

 

Ways to Vote

Vote on-line: You will be able to vote on-line in the 2022 municipal election. Details will be released at a later date.

Vote at your polling station: You can vote in person at your assigned polling station. Your polling station will be listed on the Voter Information Letter you will receive in the mail. If your address has changed since the last municipal election in 2018, you will need to have your information updated (see Voter's List of Elector's above). Bring your Voter Information Letter with you to vote.

You will need show one piece of identification that has your correct name and address in order to receive one ballot. Your Voter Notification Card is NOT a form identification. You will need to show a valid Ontario driver's licence, Ontario health card, mortgage or rental agreement for your current property, or any other acceptable form of identification listed here.

Voting by proxy: If you are unable to vote either on-line or on Election Day, you can select someone to vote on your behalf (a proxy). This person must be eligible to vote within the City of Timmins. More information on the proxy process, including where to get a proxy form, will be posted to our site at a later date.
